I recently acquired an old, old 26 inch Weber Kettle BBQ. It’s probably pre-1975 based on the wheels and the fact there isn’t a date code on the daisy wheel.
Here’s a few pictures as I begin the refurbishing of this great grill.

i have an 18″ yellow weber kettle grill. it was probably purchased in the late 60′s to early 70′s. there is not rust on it and it is much heavier than the new ones today. is there any value to it?
Larry – I am currently in the process of restoring an old Weber Kettle and saw this post. In an updated post you said that it is sanded and repainted. What paint did you use? I am looking at the Rustoleum High Heat in gloss black currently. BIG question I have is did you repaint the entire kettle or just the sanded rust spots? If it was the entire kettle how does it look? Have you put it back together and used it and if so how has the paint held up since the grill came from the factory with an enamel coating? Would love any info and or photos you’d be willing to share. I am currently in the sanding stage on my project. Thanks!
I was married in 1984 and receiced a red Webber Kettle as a wedding gift. It is 2010 and am still useing it.Needless to said it lasted longer than the marrage did.
Was just wondering if you have any “after” pictures of your Weber Bar-B-Kettle Grill after you got through refurbishing it.

I’m afraid the parts are still in the garage waiting for me to tackle it. It’s all sanded and repainted though.
According to Weber the kettle was made in 1976 or 1977 and believe it or not I was able to get both a new grill and grate for it directly from Weber.

I looked this over before, but I just noticed you said that this is a 26″ grill. Wow. That’s huge. Do they still make grates for that grill?

You are correct it was made in the late 60′s or early 70′s.
By the way it’s not a daisy wheel it called a lid damper
